Everyone knows that change is the only constant of life. We have been hearing this for ages and no one can deny or question the verity in this small adage. But, we still despise change and remain inert by nature. After getting fairly comfortable in our routines we won't like if anything comes and tumbles it upside down.
But, change is inevitable. No one can escape it and I am no different. In spite of working hard to get an admission, I simply loathed leaving my family, friends and city to come and study at a new place away from them. But, here we were with the same feeling in varying degrees. New people, new place and a completely new routine and lifestyle. Anyone is bound to crib at least initially.
In order to minimize this negative feeling, we started using the most readily available resource - PEOPLE (management jargon already!!! :P). We started talking and getting to know each other. The first few days were full of introductions. We forgot the names of most people we met and had to seek the help of someone to remind us(its rude to ask again and again and again :P). Then slowly you at least have a few acquaintances and the place starts becoming a little better.
As time passes by, bonding begins over meals and group assignments and you realize you have found some great buddies. There is an amazing sense of belonging and acceptance when someone calls and wakes you up for morning class coz they know you'll oversleep, when someone rushes to classes and saves a seat for you, when people text you 20 times a day to ask how are you as the whole class knows you're unwell, when someone is ready to mark your proxy, when someone saves you a cup of coffee, when all of you hate the same person in the college and most significantly when someone says - I missed you - when you are not there for just one lecture :D :P.
Now, the place is great, the friends are awesome and a new journey has commenced!!

You should really write more often.......on another thought, it is great how you adapt so quickly. One of the virtues I wish I had. :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun
:)... you know what... Adaptation is something that Engineering and Pune has taught me... If you remember I was soooo home-sick in our FE!
ReplyDeleteThe self-less-ness with which the bonds are made, without any boundaries - its just amazing. And of-course, its always good to have people who care about you to give you a sense of existence, miles away from home!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with new phase and now get back to blogging :P (without the management jargon please!)
